The Challenge

Yesterday my husband Dan challenged me. He weighs 40lbs less than I do (I'm at 178 and he is at 140). Essentially we want to trade places.  Our short term goal is to meet in the middle. The first person to 160 gets a new bike (or spa day....)

So today I went to the gym...my pilates class starts at 945...There is a spin class that starts at 915…. So I showed up 10 minutes early and joined the spin class to get my heart rate up before going into Pilates. I don't have a heart rate monitor, but the best I can figure is that I burned about 305 calories. I am supposed to be going back to the gym for a kickboxing class this evening, but I'm not sure yet if I will go….I spent the rest of the afternoon watching TV and snacking so I feel like a Fatty McFatterson…ugh…I convinced myself that it wasn’t a big deal because I was snacking on “diet” foods.

I ate a protein bar for breakfast (200 cal) then a banana after my workout (100) Then after running my errands for the day I ate a Special K snack bar (80) then for lunch I ate carrots (35) dipped in hummus (70) and a special K meal drink (190). Then I was having cravings (probably thirsty since I haven’t had much water today) so I ate a Skinny Cow cookies-n-cream bar (110) and then snacked on peanuts (320!).
So all together I’ve had about 1105 calories today…. and I haven’t eaten dinner yet.

I think I really need to focus on 2 things as far as my health goes. I need to drink alot more water, and I need to be having consistent meals.

Spiritually I really need to focus on finding myself in the Lord and not in my husband or the mirror. I think that is the number one key to a healthy self-image

Well I better hurry if I am going to make that kickboxing class :)

....Edit....
I'm thinking I redeemed myself. I just burnt about 815 calories in my kickboxing class and finished off the day with a salad (spring mix with red and orange peppers and balsamic vinegar as dressing...226 cal) and a Chicken Florentine Kashi meal (290)

Total calorie intake: 1421
Total burnt: 1120
Not too bad for a first day :) I'm proud of myself.
